Grade Workshop Rotation Model
Sunday School
We teach Sunday School to elementary age
kids in an exciting and different way. The Workshop Rotation Model was first
developed in the Chicago suburbs in the early 90s by a number of
Presbyterian Churches. Instead of using a published curriculum with a
different story each week, we select one story to learn for 4-5 weeks. Each
week, the kids rotate to a different workshop, such as drama, art, bible
skills and games, puppets, storytelling, cooking, science, and more. This
allows them to fully experience a story enhanced by multiple-intelligence
learning. We have converted our traditional classrooms to theme rooms, which
everybody enjoys.
Kids and teachers love it! We can
implement the variety of gifts of the congregation into specialized workshops.
Come visit our unique, creative, and
growing way to learn about the Christian faith.

Rotation Model, please visit

 | The Hot Cod Cafe is an informal
gathering of people who prefer the opportunity to drop in when they are able
and take part in meaningful conversation and a cup of coffee. This group
meets in Fellowship Hall from 9:45-10:45 am, but you are welcome to come and
go anytime during that hour. During December, the topic of discussion will be
how to keep Christmas simple yet sacred. |

 | Thursday Morning Bible Study meets at
10:30 in room 1. Rev. Koppitch offers comments to open a discussion on what a
particular text meant in Biblical times and what it means today.

breakfast meets each Wednesday morning at 7 in Fellowship Hall. This is
an interdenominational group led by Rev. Koppitch.

 | Conversations in Discipleship
are seminars for people who are interested in learning more about Fairview and
the Reformed faith. Topics include: an individuals own spiritual journey,
Presbyterianism, and what church membership entails. Classes are led by
Harriet Wilkins, John Koppitch, and Jennifer Loeb, along with two or three
elders. These classes, which meet one time for 2-3 hours, are offered several
times a year. |
Summer Programs
 |
Summer Sunday School
- During summertime
at Fairview, we oftentimes spend the summer working on play which we perform
in late July or August. All stories, crafts, games, and activities are
centered around the theme of the biblical drama program we will be
presenting. During the years when we don't offer a drama production, we
select a fun theme and incorporate Bible stories, art, crafts, games, and
outdoor activities. |
Special programs held throughout the
year include:
 | Music and movement activities for all
ages during church school
|
 | Advent and
Lenten programs celebrate special seasons with pageants and plays
|
 | Stewardship projects develop meaningful
outlets through special offerings
|
 | Service projects provide opportunities
for children and youth to express God's goodwill by helping others
|
 | Intergenerational activities promote
understanding and Christian ideals at Advent and evening vacation church
school
|
 | Drama expands the knowledge of
scriptures through plays |
